a conceituada revista norte-americana "time" elegeu os 100 melhores programas de televisão de todos os tempos. a lista, elaborada pelo crítico televisivo da revista, james poniewozik, engloba programas que estrearam antes de 2006 e foi ordenada por ordem alfabética. de fora desta lista, sempre sujeita a inúmeras divergências de opinião, ficaram séries como "anatomia de grey", "house", "e.r.", "donas de casa desesperadas", "c.s.i." e "nip/tuck", o que custa um pouco a "engolir". igualmente se constatam as ausências de jay leno e de conan o'brien e dos seus respectivos talk shows. em termos de sitcom's ficaram de fora "frasier", "mad about you" e "everybody loves raymond", três grandes sucessos televisivos. no entanto, a "time" não se esqueceu de incluir, se não o fizesse esta lista não teria credibilidade nenhuma, séries como "friends" e "seinfeld". a maior parte dos programas são, obviamente, norte-americanos, o que se compreende, vindo a lista de onde vem, mas, mesmo assim, ainda houve espaço para incluir na lista os monty python e a série "the office", versão original.
