o que se ouve por cá

"andorra" é o segundo disco de caribou, o novo projecto musical do canadiano dan snaith, depois dos manitoba. em ambos os casos, snaith é um "one man show", produzindo sozinho os discos. este "andorra", que comecei a ouvir hoje, parecia um bocado deslocado, inicialmente, dos meus gostos musicais, mas ouvindo o disco algumas vezes as músicas entranham-se, estabelecendo-se inevitáveis comparações com bandas como os spiritualized, the flaming lips e air. aqui ficam algumas frases que definem, muito melhor do que eu alguma vez poderia fazer, este disco:
"The only problem with this symphonic daydream is that at just nine songs and 43 minutes, it's over far too soon" - entertainment weekly;
"Andorra is a psychedelic and polyrhythmic trip to a place even less known than the actual country and a momentous addition to Caribou’s enviable discography" - tiny mix tapes;
"The Dr. of Mathematics has one-upped it with Andorra, keeping all of the earlier album's core sonic qualities while adding layers of heartfelt atmospherics to craft what is not only one of the most mesmerizing and unique albums of the year, but also one of the best" - lost at sea;

definitivamente, este ano começa muito bem em termos musicais: band of horses, patrick watson, my morning jacket, american music club, the national (embora "the boxer" seja de 2007), sun kil moon, beach house e caribou. e ainda só estamos em abril...
