óscares 2015: as nomeações


os filmes "birdman" e "grand budapest hotel" lideram a corrida aos óscares 2015, com nove nomeações cada, incluindo melhor filme e melhor realizador. com oito nomeações, vem logo a seguir o filme "the imitation game". depois, com seis nomeações cada, aparecem "boyhood", de richard linklater, o filme que demorou 12 anos a realizar, e "american sniper", de clint eastwood. meryl streep conseguiu mais uma nomeação (esta já é a 19ª!!), pela sua interpretação no filme musical "into the woods". uma das grandes surpresas foi a ausência de "the lego movie" nos nomeados para melhor filme de animação.

2006-2015: nove anos de nuvens da alma

o blogue nuvens da alma completa hoje 9 anos de vida. foi em 2006, numa bela tarde de inverno, perto da hora do lanche, que decidi avançar para a criação de um espaço onde pudesse, sobretudo, escrever, desatar alguns nós emocionais, desabafar sobre tudo o que me entupia o córtex cerebral e, ao mesmo tempo dissertar um pouco sobre música, a minha eterna paixão, cinema, séries televisivas, futebol, irritações sociais e, entre outras coisas, a indústria dos cabedais na noruega. são 9 anos da minha vida que aqui ficam para memória futura, para relembrar um dia o que eu ouvia em determinada fase da minha vida, o que gostei de ver e de sentir. fica também uma espécie de retrato do que fui nos últimos, como pai, como filho, como irmão, como amigo, como profissional, e a evolução, ou a falta dela, em termos de maturidade, sabedoria e conhecimento. em suma, olhando para trás (o que se torna bastante complicado quando se está a tentar redigir um texto no computador), não me envergonho de nada que tenha escrito, porque se o escrevi foi porque o sentia, e se o sentia tinha que o escrever (nem o gustavo santos diria melhor). e, afinal, não é para isso que serve um blogue?!...
prometo, aos meus leitores, continuar esta missão e levar estas nuvens o mais alto possível, até pelo desafio que isso acarreta, que é o de algum dia vir efectivamente a escrever algo de jeito.

"friends" estreou há 20 anos!



"friends" estreou nos estados unidos há precisamente 20 anos, no dia 22 de setembro de 1994, terça-feira, no canal NBC. neste artigo da vanity fair,  fica uma retrospectiva do que foi a escolha dos actores, as peripécias do episódio piloto, a troca do nome da série de "six of one" para "friends", a escalada nas audiências televisivas, a tomada de posição de david schwimmer em relação aos salários dos seis actores, a maneira como lidaram com a crescente popularidade da série e das personagens, a relação ross/rachel e as pressões do público sobre os criadores da série, até ao inevitável "... I did not want it to end"...

true detective



há anos que os produtos televisivos ultrapassam em qualidade, inovação e criatividade o cinema. contam-se pelos dedos das duas mãos os filmes de que realmente gostei nos últimos dez anos. por outro lado, o número de séries televisivas em que fiquei "viciado" aumenta de ano para ano. séries como the sopranos, house, weeds, californication, lost, 24, entourage, the office, modern family, 30 rock, studio 60 on the sunset strip, arrested development, archer, veep, brooklyn nine-nine, curb your enthusiasm, seinfeld, friends, house of cards, breaking bad, the new girl, downton abbey, etc., elevaram a fasquia e os padrões de qualidade, tornando insípido qualquer filme que não apresente nem sequer metade do substrato deste produtos.
true detective é mais um nome para juntar aos que referi anteriormente. comprei a série no domingo, comecei a ver na segunda-feira e acabei ontem. oito episódios, de 50 minutos cada, e uma galopante vontade de ver tudo de seguida, de chegar ao final, de concluir a investigação, como se fosse também eu um detective. tudo nesta série é apelativo: a fotografia, a realização, o argumento, os inteligentes diálogos, a cumplicidade crescente entre os dois detectives e, sobretudo, as interpretações. matthew mcconaughey e woody harrelson interpretam de forma brilhante os detectives rust cohle e marty hart, incumbidos de investigar um crime macabro em louisiana, em 1995, quando eram parceiros há apenas 3 meses. no decurso da investigação deste hediondo crime, as suas vidas pessoais acabam por colidir e interligar-se de maneiras inesperadas e até mesmo catastróficas. em 2012, dezassete anos depois, quando a investigação de um caso similar conduz dois novos detectives até aos acontecimentos originais de 1995, rust e marty contam, separadamente, tudo o que se passou, incluindo os eventos de índole pessoal e como tudo isso os afectou como polícias, amigos e homens.
também michelle monaghan, interpretando a esposa de marty, surge imponente, como um eixo de racionalidade e consciência que paira sempre sobre as restantes personagens principais.
se decidirem comprar/ver esta série, recomendo apenas que o comecem a fazer quando souberem que vão ter umas boas horas livres pela frente, porque não vão conseguir deixar de ver. é viciante, como se nos agarrasse pelos colarinhos e nos forçasse a ficar à frente do televisor.
nos estados unidos, os episódios tinham uma média de 11,2 milhões de espectadores, que agora vão ficar, tal como eu, avidamente à espera da segunda série.

o desejado regresso de scott matthews



depois do muito elogiado "what the night delivers", que foi eleito por aqui como o melhor disco de 2011, scott matthews está de regresso aos originais. "home (part 1)" devolve-nos o génio criativo do cantautor de 38 anos, nascido em wolverhampton, inglaterra, com onze músicas intimistas e etéreas, em que a voz de matthews se destaca, aqui a ali a fazer lembrar jeff buckley, nick drake e até rufus wainwright. o disco navega por águas bem calmas, com a música de abertura, "virginia", a marcar o ritmo, com o piano, a guitarra e os violinos a embrulharem as palavras do cantor.
"home (part 1)" surge, assim, muito bem colocado para ser novamente eleito como um dos melhores discos do ano, até porque para quem gostou do anterior, o sublime "what the night delivers", seria uma enorme contradição não apreciar igualmente este. para já, músicas como "virginia", "the outsider", "dear angel", "86 floors from heaven", "mona" e, sobretudo, "running wild" surgem como pontos altos do disco, que nunca chega verdadeiramente a ter... pontos baixos. excelente regresso, sem dúvida!

infeliz desenlace de um dos actores mais hilariantes de sempre, que conseguia ser igualmente brilhante em papéis dramáticos. o seu virtuosismo não poderá nunca ser esquecido. filmes como "bom dia vietname", "o clube dos poetas mortos", "despertares", "the fisher king" e "good will hunting" servirão para mostrar aos vindouros quem foi robin williams, um homem que fazia rir toda a gente enquanto chorava por dentro. até sempre captain...

nascido a 21 de julho de 1951, robin williams é um dos poucos actores que me consegue fazer rir desalmadamente e fazer chorar com enorme facilidade. entrou em alguns dos meus filmes preferidos, tanto cómicos como dramáticos, e é um comediante nato, como provam os seus espectáculos de stand up ou as suas improvisadas aparições em programas como "tonight show with jay leno" ou "late night with conan o'brien", chegando a ser avassaladora a velocidade com que debita o seu material humorístico, sempre com inúmeras referências culturais, políticas, desportivas e televisivas.

em termos de projectos futuros, robin williams faz parte do elenco de "august rush", que vai estrear em novembro nos estados unidos, ao lado de jonathan rhys meyers e keri russell. para 2008 estão previstas as estreias de "old dogs" e "the krazees". o primeiro filme é uma comédia, com um elenco de luxo: john travolta, robin williams, kelly preston, matt dillon, bernie mac e seth green. o segundo filme, uma comédia familiar, está ainda em pré-produção.

o melhor remédio contra depressões e afins. é impossível assistir a este dvd e ficar mais de 10 segundos sem rir. já andava há algum tempo a "namorar" este dvd, hoje comprei-o finalmente. será muito útil naqueles dias sombrios e taciturnos, em que a escuridão ameaça instalar-se. robin williams, esse grande e multifacetado actor, em toda a sua virtuosidade cómica, num regresso, 16 anos depois, ao espectáculo de stand-up. já tinha colocado neste blog alguns excertos deste mesmo espectáculo, retirados do you tube. se quiserem ter uma ideia do que é este dvd, basta escreverem "robin williams" na barra de pesquisa, aqui mesmo do lado direito, e procurarem nas respostas que vão aparecer os referidos clips do you tube. robin williams é impagável, hilariante, magnífico... um dos grandes vultos do humor a nível mundial.

este é um daqueles filmes obrigatórios! uma verdadeira odisseia pela redenção pessoal, materializada na busca do santo graal, protagonizada por dois magníficos actores: jeff bridges e robin williams. curiosamente, quem venceu um óscar, em 1991, pela sua participação neste filme (aliás o único, entre quatro nomeações) foi a actriz secundária mercedes ruehl. robin williams foi nomeado para o óscar de melhor actor, mas viria a perder para anthony hopkins, no filme "o silêncios dos inocentes", que nesse ano arrecadou as principais estatuetas. jeff bridges, mais uma vez, foi esquecido pela academia, apesar da sua brilhante interpretação em "the fisher king". realizado por terry gilliam, um dos elementos dos célebres monty python, esta tragico-comédia narra a improvável história de amizade entre jack lucas (jeff bridges), um famoso dj de nova iorque, e um professor de história sem abrigo (parry), interpretado por robin williams, que vive num mundo de fantasia, povoado de castelos, cavaleiros e damas em apuros. um trágico acontecimento, em parte provocado pela arrogância do dj, que no seu programa de rádio instiga um ouvinte, com problemas de adaptação, a insugir-se contra as pessoas que o ostracizam, muda drasticamente as vidas de ambos: o dj perde o emprego e, sem dinheiro e com a carreira arruinada, inicia uma vertiginosa descida ao submundo citadino, onde conhece parry, um simpático e prestável sem abrigo, que tinha uma vida perfeitamente normal, com carreira profissional (professor de história), até ao tal trágico acontecimento, que tirou a vida à sua mulher, mesmo diante dos seus olhos. sentindo-se responsável pela descida de parry ao inferno, jack tenta ajudar parry a voltar a ser o homem que era e a libertar-se dos seus demónios. ao mesmo tempo, recebe a ajuda de anne napolitano (mercedes ruehl), dona de um clube de vídeo, que lhe dá emprego e o recebe em sua casa. a "viagem" que encetam em busca da redenção está repleta de episódios inesquecíveis. escrito por richard lagravenese, responsável pelo argumento de filmes como "the bridges of madison county", "the horse whisperer", "the mirror has two faces" e desse fabuloso filme que é "unstrung heroes", realizado por diane keaton e com andie macdowell, john turturro e michael richards no elenco, "the fisher king" é um filme marcante, com sentido de humor, grande sensibilidade, histórias de amor pouco ou nada convencionais, personagens inesquecíveis e excelente fotografia. mas o que dá mais prazer neste filme, acima de tudo e no meio de tantas virtudes, é assistir às duas magistrais interpretações de robin williams e jeff bridges. para ver, rever e guardar religiosamente.

jeff buckley




17 de novembro de 1966 - 29 de maio de 1997
passam hoje 17 anos desde o desaparecimento deste enorme talento.
com 30 anos apenas, jeff buckley deixou-nos um dos melhores discos da década de 90, "grace", editado em 1994, e uma enorme legião de admiradores que não se cansam de o citar como grande influência musical. "jeff buckley é uma gota cristalina num oceano de ruídos", referiu bono vox. david bowie chegou mesmo a eleger o disco como "the best album ever made". o que é cert...o é que "grace" vendeu muito menos do que o esperado, tal a qualidade do disco. tal como nick drake, que também faleceu muito novo (26 anos), buckley teve muito mais sucesso depois da sua morte do que em vida. jeff era filho do músico e cantor tim buckley, que faleceu igualmente novo (28 anos), mas numa altura em que já tinha editado nove discos.

o que não se diz

falha-se o momento, perde-se a oportunidade... e o mundo avança, sem piedade, sem contemplações. mais uma ruga, mais 134 cabelos brancos, mais uma colecção de frases que deveriam ter sido proferidas em determinado momento mas que só nos surgem horas depois. a vida é construída de pequenos nadas, em que até uma mera palavra, dita no momento exacto e com a respectiva eloquência, pode fazer toda a diferença, seja no emprego, na vida pessoal, familiar ou numa colectividade recreativa e social. até pode ser uma palavra tão simples como "sim", "não" ou "trombocitopenia". a questão é dizê-la quando realmente interessa, quando ela pode fazer toda a diferença. acumular sentimentos, remoer amarguras sem as extravasar, reviver momentos passados ao segundo, analisando todas as palavrinhas, vírgulas e pontos finais, é tão saudável como andar de bicicleta em fukushima.

o tempo que se gasta

o tempo que passamos longe das pessoas de quem gostamos é interminável. por outro lado, o tempo que gastamos, ou perdemos, com pessoas que não nos dizem nada é uma monstruosa amargura. há certamente pessoas com quem queremos estar, que querem estar connosco. mas quando olhamos à volta, vemos que não são aquelas que nos rodeiam. é praticamente um genocídio sentimental...

o meu filme

já muita gente me perguntou, ou fui eu que pensei, tanto faz, como seria um filme baseado na minha vida. depois de muita ponderação, cheguei à conclusão de que seria uma espécie de "groundhog day" (o filme em que bill murray é obrigado a reviver o mesmo dia... todos os dias, encontrando sempre as mesmas pessoas e passando constantemente pelas mesmas situações), mas com muito menos piada, obviamente. resultaria um "groundhog day" como se fosse realizado por manoel de oliveira, o que, ainda por cima, significaria que eu teria que arranjar papéis para o luís miguel cintra, a leonor silveira e o ricardo trêpa (como se já não existissem suficientes personagens aborrecidas no "meu" filme).

amizades convenientes

há quem acredite que a partir de uma certa idade se perde o luxo de ter amigos só por amizade. inventam-se novas categorias: "amigos de amigos", "amigos de familiares", "amigo que dá jeito porque eu não faço ideia de como se compõe uma persiana", "amigo que um dia me pode ser muito útil quando quiser abrir uma loja de peças para torradeiras", "amigo que me leva o carro à inspecção todos os anos se eu lhe pedir", etc.. a vida obriga muito boa gente a alargar os seus horizontes em termos sociais, dando especial relevo à via profissionalizante. eu limito-me a ficar contente quando sou atendido nos cafés...

a pergunta

quando conhecemos alguém, como por exemplo um novo colega de trabalho, qual é a pergunta mais frequentemente colocada? de onde és? que idade tens? já namoras? sabes a tabuada dos 9? há uma quantidade infinita de questões a colocar, no sentido de ficarmos a saber algo mais sobre essa pessoa nova e de, no futuro, podermos utilizar algumas das suas respostas em conversas mais demoradas. no entanto, existe uma pergunta cuja resposta, a meu ver, é bem definidora da pessoa que temos à nossa frente (ou ao lado, caso estejamos a conduzir): "o que é que te faz rir?". é suficiente e poupa-nos imensas horas de análise.

resignações

sou uma pessoa muito bem sucedida a nível social...

engraçado, já tinha ouvido falar em pessoas que não conseguiam acabar uma frase porque se começavam a rir.

nunca tinha constatado que acontece o mesmo quando se escreve...

provérbios pouco populares

eis as minhas falhadas tentativas de inventar um provérbio:
- as pessoas são sobrevalorizadas, mas os animais, apesar de bons ouvintes, raramente dão bons conselhos;
- sempre que tiveres fome, atira um homem de sorte ao mar e ele regressará com um peixe na boca; se não tiveres fome, atira-o ao mar na mesma, apenas pelo gozo;
- nunca invejes aqueles que têm um coração grande, porque mais tarde ou ...mais cedo eles vão ter sérios problemas coronários;
- se quiseres alimentar alguém, dá-lhe um dos teus peixes; mas se o ensinares a pescar podes ter a certeza de que essa pessoa vai ter uma vida social bastante enfadonha;
- calças vermelhas em abril, sinal de que estás a ficar senil;
- uma maçã por dia mantém o médico longe de tua casa, mas as contas na mercearia vão ser cada vez maiores;
- nunca duvides da palavra do senhor, especialmente se ele tiver um canivete suiço na mão;
- o pensamento positivo pode afastar-te de muitos tormentos, mas nunca será suficiente quando a tua mulher te mandar às compras.
